As a chemical engineer we can serve to safeguard the people, assets and environment in the industrial safety domain.

Safety engineering is basically of two kinds.

First one is occupational safety, where work place is studied for mitigating work related diseases. Safety officers, inspectors and occupational safety consultants are some of the jobs available on the market.

To become a safer officer, choose either a postgraduate degree in industrial safety and health or a diploma course in Industrial Safety.

Second kind is the process and technical safety where professionals work to incorporate safety at the design level of a plant. Here safe design is the objective of an engineer. For example, bunds for storage tanks, minimum distance between each installations in a plant, fire water adequacy calculations etc. These kind of jobs are mostly available in private sector companies. There are governmental organizations which offers HSE consultations but they are meagre as compared to private ones.

To move ahead in the career path of a HSE/ Process safety / technical safety or a loss prevention engineer, search and apply for process safety jobs available online. This path of career has got much vacancies in overseas like Canada, Netherlands and mainly in gulf countries.
